Ledgerly shows you the sum, not just the answer. What is left, divided by the days you have left.

Four tabs

Four questions, four screens.

Everything sits under one of four tabs. Nothing is buried three menus deep, and no dashboard tries to say it all at once.

Today

What can I spend today?

Ledgerly takes what is left, subtracts what is still coming, and divides by the days that remain. You get one number, and the ones it came from are right underneath it.

  • Adding a spend takes secondsAmount, category, account. You pick the category, because you know what the money was for.
  • Repeats handle themselvesSet up rent, your salary and your subscriptions once. They show up under Upcoming before they land.
  • Search everything you have addedFind any transaction by its note, its category or its amount.

Plan

How is the plan holding up?

Give each category an amount and the bars show you where each one stands. The period is whatever you actually live in: a month, a fortnight, or the gap between two pay days.

  • Keep budgets apartThe house and a side project do not belong in the same numbers. Switch between them from any screen.
  • See how the period wentWhat you planned, what you spent, and where the two stopped matching.
  • No red, no telling offGoing over is just a line that says how much by. Ledgerly does not use alarm colours anywhere.

Money

What am I worth today?

Bank, cash and cards in one total. It moves when you add something, and nothing else moves it.

  • Add as many accounts as you useCurrent, cash, savings, credit. You set the starting balance, so it begins where your money really is.
  • Moving money is not spendingSend cash from savings to current and Ledgerly counts it as a move, not as an expense.
  • Fix a balance in one lineWhen the app and the real account disagree, say what the balance should be and carry on.

Tools

Where is everything else?

Settings, and the way out. Everything you have added comes out as a CSV, and backup copies it to Google Drive, iCloud or a file you keep, once you switch it on.

  • Export to CSVOne file, opens in any spreadsheet. It works whether you have paid or not.
  • Backup and restoreGoogle Drive, iCloud or a local file. This is the only thing that copies your data off the phone, and it waits until you turn it on.
  • Lock the appA passcode, plus your fingerprint or face if your phone has it.
  • 165 currencies, 5 languagesPick your currency once. The app is in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish, the same five this site is in.

Where your data is

Your money data
stays on
this phone.

No account. No servers to breach. Ledgerly runs offline. The only copy that ever leaves your phone is a backup you switch on yourself.

  • No sign-up
  • Works with airplane mode on
  • Backups only if you ask

You can check all three yourself in about a minute, on a phone with no signal.

What does reach the network

Backup, once you turn it on
Google Drive, iCloud or a file you choose. It copies everything, which is why it stays off until you say so.
Your purchase
Handled by RevenueCat through your App Store or Google Play account. It knows you paid. It does not know what you spent.
Crash reports
Sent to Sentry so a crash can be fixed instead of guessed at. They carry the fault, not your numbers.

Only backup carries what you have recorded, and it waits until you turn it on. The other two never see a figure.

What it costs

Seven days, then you decide.

The trial starts when you finish setting up your budget, not when you install. Everything is unlocked from day one. There is no second tier and nothing saved up for a bigger plan.

Yearly

Most people

Billed yearly after your free trial. Cancel anytime.

The store shows the yearly price and what that works out to each month.

Lifetime

One payment. Nothing renews, nothing to cancel.

Pay once. Nothing renews.

Monthly

Billed monthly after your free trial. Cancel anytime.

For when you would rather not commit to a year.

The App Store and Google Play set the price for each country, so what you see is the price where you are. Open either listing to check it.

When the trial ends

Nothing you wrote down gets locked away.

You can still read, search, export and back up whether you buy or not. Paying is what lets you add new transactions. Nothing you have already written down gets held back, and the CSV export is there on the day you decide to leave.

Questions

What it does, and what it will not do.

Half of these are things Ledgerly does not do, on purpose. Better to know before you download than after.

Does Ledgerly connect to my bank?

No, and that is on purpose. You add each transaction, or you write a rule that adds it for you. It means the app is only as up to date as you keep it. It also means there is no bank login to hand over, and nobody else holding a copy of your statements.

Does it sort my spending into categories for me?

No. You pick the category as you add the transaction. Guessing gets it wrong often enough that fixing it takes longer than choosing, and only you know whether a supermarket trip was the weekly shop or a present.

Will it tell me how to save money?

No. Ledgerly shows you where you are. What you can spend today, how each category is doing, and how the last period went. It does not give advice, score your habits or set goals for you.

Where is my data kept?

In a file on your phone. There is no account and no server holding it. The only thing that copies it off the phone is backup, to Google Drive, iCloud or a file, and that stays off until you switch it on. The app also sends crash reports to Sentry and handles purchases through RevenueCat. Neither of those sees your figures.

Can I move to a new phone?

Yes, if you have a backup. Restore it on the new phone and everything comes back. Your purchase moves separately, because it belongs to your App Store or Google Play account. Tap Restore on any device you sign in to.

What happens when the trial ends?

You can still read, search, export and back up. Paying is what lets you add new transactions. Nothing you have already written down becomes unreadable, and the CSV export keeps working whether you buy or not.

Is there a free version?

No. You get 7 days free with everything unlocked, then it is a paid app. Monthly, yearly, or one payment for good. There is no second tier, so nothing is being saved up to sell you later.

Which currencies can I use?

165. You pick one and every figure in the app is shown in it. Ledgerly does not convert between currencies, because a budget only makes sense in the one you actually think in.

What languages does the app speak?

English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. The app and this website speak the same five, so whatever brought you here is what you will see once you open it.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Tools, then Export data. Everything you have added comes out as a CSV that opens in any spreadsheet, and it keeps working after a subscription stops.
