At a glance

What it is: A budget and expense tracker for iPhone, iPad and Android. You add each transaction yourself, or write a recurring rule that adds it for you.
The main number: Safe to spend today. It is what you have left, minus what still has to go out, divided by the days left in the period. The figures it comes from are shown under it.
Platforms: iPhone and iPad on iOS 15 or later, and Android phones. There is no web or desktop version.
Languages: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
Bank connection: None. There is no bank login, no automatic import and no automatic categorisation.
Sign-up: None. The app works without an account.
Price: Paid. You can record 20 transactions to try it, and the 7 day free trial starts when you choose. After that you pay monthly, yearly or once. Each store sets the price for your country, and the app shows it.
If you stop paying: Reading, searching, exporting and backup keep working. Only recording new transactions stops.

Where it is kept: In a file on your phone. No Ledgerly server holds a copy, and nothing is uploaded unless you switch on backup.
Backup: Off until you switch it on. Then the copy goes to your own Google Drive, to iCloud on iOS, or to a file you keep.
What the app sends: Crash reports, and a few events such as which setup step was reached, go to Sentry. They are built to leave out amounts, categories and anything you type, and you can turn them off. RevenueCat checks purchases. There are no ads and no advertising identifier.
Export: The transactions of one budget, over the dates you choose, as a CSV file that opens in any spreadsheet. It works with or without a subscription.
New phone: Restore a backup on the new phone. Your purchase belongs to your App Store or Google Play account, and Restore brings it back.
App lock: A passcode, and biometrics where the phone supports them.

Shows what is safe to spend today, with the arithmetic under the number.
Runs a budget weekly, every two weeks, twice a month or monthly, to match when you are paid.
Keeps more than one budget, with a switcher between them.
Shows a review of each period when it ends.
Tracks accounts, transfers between them, and net worth. An account can be left out of net worth.
Adds rent, salary and subscriptions for you, from recurring rules you write.
Searches every transaction by note, category or amount, with filters by category and account.
Lets you make your own categories.
Works in any of 165 currencies. You pick one, and the app does not convert between them.
Sends a daily reminder, budget warnings and a weekly summary, if you want them.
Has light, dark and system themes.
